Choosing between a traditional four-year college and a technical school doesn’t have to be an either/or decision.

Sometimes one educational path can lead to the other, said Greg Nichols, president of Salina Area Technical College.

Nichols, along with Kansas Wesleyan University President Matt Thompson and Salina Central High School Principal Nate Showman, recently talked about the challenges of choosing the right path of higher education after high school graduation and how students are being given the tools to develop future career portfolios as early as eighth grade.
