After years of building homes with Salina Habitat for Humanity, about 40 Salina Area Technical College students got the opportunity this year to be a part of building a more elaborate house from the ground up.

The students, who were a part of four Salina Tech programs — HVAC, computer-aided drafting, construction technology and electrical technology — worked on the house for close to a year, using a wider variety of methods and materials to build a home than they had previously.

On Tuesday their work was on display as members of the Salina community and Salina Tech staff gathered at the house at 732 Marla Court for an open house.
