The recent donation of diesel engines to two Kansas technical colleges is a perfect example of a public-private partnership that benefits both the donor and the recipient.

According to a Dec. 3 Salina Journal story by reporter Harold Campbell, MHC Kenworth of Salina donated to Salina Area Technical College and North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit PACCAR MX-13 diesel engines worth about $40,000 each.

PACCAR, Kenworth’s parent company, had announced about a year ago an initiative to distribute the engines to technical colleges. John Logan, service manager for MHC Kenworth in Salina, had the names of the two technical colleges placed on the waiting list, and they became the first institutions to receive engines under the program.
