Assessment/Placement Test:
All applicants for admission are required to take the college placement test to make certain students are “placed” into the correct English or Math class. SATC uses the ACT Compass test for assessment testing. The test is free and takes about one hour to complete.
In lieu of the assessment test, students may submit ACT scores or an assessment test from another institution if not more than five years old. Students may also transfer college level math or English credits at a C or better.
The Compass test must be started at least one hour before closing, usually 2:30 pm.
WorkKeys Assessment:
After students have completed their course of study, they take the WorkKeys assessment. The WorkKeys assessment is used to evaluate and analyze workplace skills. Skills measured by WorkKeys are transferrable skills. These are skills necessary for most jobs.To learn more about WorkKeys, visit the website:

The WorkKeys test is given at the end of each semester in the Computer Lab in Building A.
NOCTI Assessment:
After students have completed their course of study, they take the NOCTI assessment. This is a “Job Ready” assessment. This assessment is specific to the field of study the students have chosen. It measures the skills students have obtained from their coursework. There is a written and a performance part of the test.
The NOCTI assessment is given at the end of the semester. The written assessment is given in an assigned area. The performance assessment is given in the students’ shop or work area.
Other testing services are provided as needed, including make-up testing and proctoring for external texting organizations.
