Placement Testing

Note: Placement testing will NOT prevent you from being accepted into Salina Tech.  Scores will be used for college course placement and advising.

The Kansas Board of Regents requires all institutions to assess college readiness of students taking college level classes.  To show readiness for college level work, all new students will be assessed in writing, reading and mathematics prior to their first semester of enrollment. 

All applicants must submit official score documentation and/or complete the applicable assessments tests.  Acceptable assessments are listed below.  Scores must not be greater than 3 years old.

  • ACT Scores
  • SAT Scores
  • Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) Level
  • ACCUPLACER
  • College Ready Scores
  • Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
  • Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
  • ASSET
  • Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

Kansas High School students or recent graduates, typically have either KAP Level, SAT or ACT scores.  Please contact Student Services about retrieving these scores.  785.309.3100 or admissions@salinatech.edu.  

If your assessment scores are greater than three years old, you will be required to take ACCUPLACER.  Students will be assessed in writing, reading, and mathematics.  Specific courses or programs may require other specific assessments, pre-requisite or co-requisite course completion
