SATC Board of Trustees

Board of Trustees Meeting Notes

Nine individuals have been appointed to the newly-formed board of trustees for Salina Area Technical College. The appointments were made by the Salina USD 305 Board of Education at the Aug. 26, 2008 board meeting. The board of trustees will become an independent governing board July 1, 2009.

The appointment of a board for the technical college is the latest milestone on the college's journey to become an independent, degree-granting schoo1. A law passed by the Kansas Legislature in 2007 required a change in the governance and structure of Salina Area Technical School (SATS). The law required SATS and three other technical schools in Kansas to either merge/affiliate with an institution of higher learning or seek accreditation through the higher learning commission and become independent, degree-granting institutions by July 1, 2009. The Salina USD 305 Board of Education, after a lengthy study process, voted in September 2007 to allow the technical school to become independent.
