Explain how you plan on measuring learning? |
Each technical program assesses technical, communication, and critical thinking skills using a variety of instructional strategies, including tests, projects, quizzes, homework, hands-on demonstrations, etc. Student mastery of these skills is documented in the competency profile. Competency profiles are stored in the registrar’s office.
Each technical program assesses interpersonal/workplace skills using a variety of instructional strategies. Student development of these skills is documented in the competency profile. |
What were the end of year results?
Any other “indirect” measures of student learning? Graduate and job placement data? Student survey data? NOCTI scores? % of students meeting graduation requirements? |
- All competences were completed with a 2.0 or above for the seven graduating students.
- Eleven full time students started the program, two dropped out first semester, and two didn’t pass two courses each. This is a 64% completion rate.
- Of the seven graduating students, three have jobs in the construction field.
- All graduates completed a resume, cover letter, and attended a job interview at the college.
- All graduating students completed the NOCTI testing, but the scores are not available yet.
- The average student assessment for CT-120, Concrete-Blueprint Reading, was 1.9.
- The average student assessments for CT-170, Cabinet Making/Installation, demonstrate ability to install cabinets was 1.9.
|
What changes need to be made in teaching or the curriculum?
|
- CT-120 (Concrete Blueprint Reading): Most students can’t grasp what the finished building should look like from a plan. The instructor will spend more time in this area. A blueprint of a finished building will be obtained and studied.
- CT-170 (Cabinet Making): Cabinets were not set this year because of budget restraints. Next year there will be a class on Cabinet Making. Each student will be required to make a different cabinet.
