NOCTI/WorkKeys scheduling

Trish Hayden reported that it is possible to schedule NOCTI testing on different dates.  Tests do not have to be sent in together.  One disadvantage is that institutional statistics would have to be recalculated with each report.

After discussion, Janet Fisher moved all NOCTI testing be conducted on a single schedule and the tests be returned for grading at one time.  The motion was seconded by Tom Phillips and was APPROVED.

Ms. Hayden reported on NOCTI pilot project.  The company is testing a new version of NOCTI and is offering the experimental version of the test at no charge.  The deadline for completion of pilot testing is March 31.   Janet Fisher moved that SATC not participate in the pilot project for two reasons:  the deadline is too early to allow many departments to complete standard curriculum and testing will interfere with the scheduled AdvancEd site visit in early April.
The motion was seconded by John Black and was APPROVED.

WIN preparation for WorkKeys Testing

Ms. Hayden announced that WIN training for WorkKeys testing is available at no cost to students or the school.   Students and instructors will be informed about the opportunity.

General Education Math Classes

John Black reported on COMPASS test results for math.  A general discussion of general education and related math classes followed.

Barbara Coleman moved that John Black prepare a syllabus for CAD Math.  The motion was seconded by Janet Fisher and was APPROVED.

Barbara Coleman moved that Trish Hayden and John Black set admission standards in the form COMPASS or SAT/ACT scores for general education math classes.  Their recommendations will be furnished to both the Assessment Committee and the Academic Affairs Committee.  The motion was seconded by Tom Phillips and was APPROVED.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:25 am.

The next meeting will be in the Dental Assistant classroom at 10:50 am on Friday, February 19, 2010.
