Department assessment goals appear on the same page.
Trish will meet with all instructors. She will discuss the assessment goals, profiles and how their students are doing in order to see if their grades at the 9- week interval correlate to the Compass scores.
Compass Testing: An additional 1,000 ACT Compass registrations have been ordered and will be installed on the Z:\ server. We are currently experimenting with Internet delivery of Compass tests. There are script errors in Algebra in the present system which raises questions about the reliability of math scores. Almost 90% of schools which give Compass use the Internet version. SATC can convert existing registrations to the Internet.
WorkKeys and NOCTII testing were also discussed.
Initial data from a pilot project conducted in the HVAC department shows a strong correlation between standardized aptitude scores in Mechanical Reason and student performance. In addition to testing, Trish plans to add an interest inventory.
Business:
Janet Fisher moved that We attempt to complete the HVAC pilot project before April 2010; specifically, that the results of the study be reported to the Assessment Committee which will analyze the data and make recommendations to college administration whether to extend the study to other programs. The motion was seconded by Jeramie Rick and passed unanimously.
John Black moved that Instructors should be encouraged to complete electronic competencies as tasks are completed so that partial data will be available for the AdvancEd site visit in April 2010. The motion was seconded by Janet Fisher and passed unanimously.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 11:28 am.
Next Meeting: The next meeting is subject to call by the chair.
