Salina Area Technical College opened in 1965 on the former Schilling Air Force Base with 189 students enrolled in nine programs.  Over 50 plus years later, the College has grown to over 400 students in credit-programs and over 900 students taking continuing education classes.  In 2003, two new buildings were added making SATC facilities some of the best in Kansas and the nation.  Students receive hands-on instruction from experienced, knowledgeable faculty in an environment that is fun, relaxed, and caring.  On July 1, 2008 Salina Area Technical School became Salina Area Technical College (SATC).  In September of 2008, SATC established a new Board of Trustees and began awarding Associate of Applied Science Degrees. In 2016, SATC earned its regional accreditation from the Chicago-based Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
