NDT 100 Introduction to Non-Destructive Testing


Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is the process of inspecting, testing, or evaluating materials, components or assemblies for discontinuities, or differences in characteristics without destroying the serviceability of the part or system. In other words, when the inspection or test is completed the part can still be used.

Non-Destructive Testing is a high demand skill area for employers as it has application across industries, from welding and machine tooling, to aircraft and construction.

The course will be taught online with a flexible schedule, so you can learn valuable new skills without having to take time away from your job.

DEN 248 Nitrous Oxide Adminstration

The Course

The Nitrous Oxide course at Salina Tech is designed to prepare dental hygienists, dental assistants, and other auxiliary dental professionals the proper administration of nitrous oxide-oxygen.  Through didactic and clinical instruction, this 2-day course at Salina Tech covers the concepts behind nitrous oxide-oxygen sedation, as well as, safe and effective techniques for monitoring the administration of nitrous oxide-oxygen. 

Course objectives  

  • History, philosophy and psychology of nitrous oxide sedation
  • Medical Assessment of the patient prior to administration
  • Safe and effective techniques for administration
  • Post-operative care of the patient
  • Legal and ethical considerations

Requirements for Admission

  • Proof of current employment in a dental office
  • Proof of current CPR/First Aid card

DEN 270 Supragingival Scaling for Dental Assistants

The Course

The Supragingival Scaling course at Salina Tech is approved by the Kansas Dental Board, designed for certified dental assistants and/or experienced dental assistants to expand their skills in preventative dentistry with didactic, laboratory and clinical instruction in supragingival scaling and polishing.  The course includes review of infection control, radiology, tooth morphology, as well as didactic instruction in nutrition, periodontal disease, dental caries, oral hygiene instruction, topical fluoride, principles of instrumentation and risk management.

Requirements for Admission

Graduate of an accredited dental assistant program and CDA (Certified Dental Assistant) or three years employment as a dental assistant within the last five years (verification required) or departmental consent. Must have current accepted CPR with hands-on training. Tuition: $1,181.00.
